This film is hard to install on the first attempt and gets progressively easier. There are some important steps you absolutely must follow if it's going to work:
1. Clean the window first (with a light mix of detergent and water).
2. For application, create a mix of Johnson baby shampoo and distilled water. If you use regular detergent and water, these will start to bubble and crease after the film has applied and cured. I tried 4 windows with bad results until I Googled the reason, so please follow this step.
3. When cutting the film, don't allow it to crease or fold at all. Cut on the floor if you have to. Once the film creases, it will be visible on the window forever. It's better to discard creased cuts than apply them.
4. Spray as much as possible on the inside layer (between the window and film) and outside (between the film and you). You cannot spray too much - the more spray, the easier the application. I think even a bath of liquid might be a good step.
5. Especially with larger panels, use the squeegee to work from the middle of the window to the edge. It's tempting to go top to bottom but it will not work as well. Start from the middle and push out the creases for a perfect finish, making sure you spray all the time. If you start from the top and ignore this, you'll find creases at the bottom and edges in a week or so.
It's taken some serious trial and error to discover the tricks to make this work but if you follow these steps rigidly you should be okay. Also, it's much, much easier with two people and almost prone to failure by yourself. It really does reduce the air conditioning bill substantially but a substandard installation can make the glass look cracked from the outside.
The home stores are charging 7-8 times this amount to do the same thing but with some dedicated procedure, you can achieve the same result.

I have installed this product on 8 sliding glass doors and numerous windows. It does require some skill as well as detail oriented thinking. Cutting the piece just slightly oversized before application has helped. Taping one corner on both sides then pulling the tape apart to strip the protective layer from the film before application has saved me a lot of grief at seperating the two film sheets. super cleaning the windows before application is an absolute necessity unless you want a shoddy install. Using enough spray to really wet the window will allow adjusting the film a bit after initial contact. Let the film pull itself to the window and you can avoid wrinkles and squeege down first then sideways as needed will make for a better job than other patterns. Plan to have small gaps at the inside edges. usually
Update: I do have some windows exposed to salt spray. For whatever reason the film can lose it's value around edges that get that under them. This is problematic for me, but only about 10% of my windows fall into this category. Overall I am still very happy.

I did not have the issues that one of the reviewers had during the installation. As previously noted, taking the time to thoroughly clean the windows before starting your project is key (use a razor to make sure that nothing is stuck on the surface, very clean edges allows for a good seal) being very patient, cutting carefully, using tape to partially peel the film backing, applying the film before removing the rest of the backing (don't let the film stick to itself!). Using soapy water (just plain water will not work!) and tons of it, was very beneficial, so there is no need to buy any commercial product, liquid dish soap worked great. I sprayed constantly before, during and after placing the film on the window (get a large spray bottle and fill often). A nice soapy base allows you to slide the film around until it is correctly placed. The right sized squeegee is helpful and be careful not to create wrinkles as you press out the excess water. Turn off the ceiling fan, as it blows the film and debris around that sticks to the film (pet hair anyone?). This 100 yd x 48" roll took care of all 60 windows and doors in the house. The first month, my bill in TX went down $100 in 110 deg weather, so well worth the $265 I spent and the several days that the installation took. Only reason it did not get 5 stars was due to the poor packing job. The box was too large for the roll, causing the outer portion of the film to slid off the tube. This resulted in a 4-6" band of crushed film for about 50 yds, film was too badly damaged to be salvaged. This created additional waste, as we try to make due with the remaining film. Frustrating but not worth sending the 100 yd roll back for a replacement. If they fix their packing process, they would get 5 stars.
